Dennis Heyman, Photographer
"Over the last several years, photography has grown into one of my
favorite hobbies.  It all started when I went on a three week backpacking
trip through Europe after graduating from college.  I was only armed with
a simple point-and-shot camera and a lot of film.  I think I saw more of
Europe through the camera viewfinder than without.  Since then, I’ve
become hooked on photography and haven’t looked back.

It didn’t take long to realize that I wanted more control over the final
image.  Having grown up in the digital age, I went straight for a digital
camera.  It wasn’t until I bought a fully manual camera that the real
creative juices started to flow.  I think within hours of having bought it I
was at the sink trying to freeze the motion of water dripping from the
faucet.  It worked, it worked!

I like to photograph just about anything, but lately abstracts and black
and white photography have drawn me in.  Just about anything you look
at can be visualized in an abstract way.  Whether I hold my head
sideways or get really close, it really comes down to experimenting and
that’s half the fun.

I grew up in Aldan, PA and currently live and work outside of Baltimore.  I
have recently begun taking classes at the Maryland Institute College of
Art in Baltimore, both in film and digital photography.  Whether I’m
processing my images in a darkroom or on a computer, photography
has been a great way to creatively express myself.

I hope you enjoy my work!"
