Hand-Caster & Hand-Painter of Metal Figures
Ernie Lewis is 83 years old and has worked amongst graphic artists
for 40 years. At the tender age of 10, Ernie started collecting antique
molds for metal-casting and hand-painting miniature metal figures.
Some of Ernie's molds date as far as back as 1933!
His figures are created from printing metal, none of it lead-based.
Printing metal is a mix of various metals which, when hardened,
results in a malleable, slightly brittle metal that is also suitable for
soldering.
Ernie's miniatures are cast solid and hand-painted with acrylic paint.
Some figures Ernie has hand-cast are Carousel Animals, Civil War
Soldiers, Race Cars and Highlanders!
His work has been shown in the Doylestown Folk Fest, Belsnickles in
Boyertown and the Elders Craftsman.
Ernie also makes full chess sets. They are available upon request.
