"I was born in Los Angeles, California when hula
hoops were popular. After the third grade, my father was
transferred to New York City on business and we moved to northern
New Jersey. Since kindergarten, my teachers always commented on my
art. I enjoyed doodling, sketching or painting anything I could get my
hands on. After graduating from Ridgewood High School I pursued my
passion at Ridgewood School of Art. My studies included being on both
sides of the canvas, as painter and subject. When entering the
workforce, I had various jobs in Bergen County, New Jersey - Fort
Wayne, Indiana - Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania mostly in
the Graphic Arts field. While raising a family, I took a home study course
through the Art Instruction School and pursued various arts/ crafts and
music interests.
An accident in the summer of 2000 affected my mobility, stamina and
balance. This event and subsequent recovery therapy introduced me to
a program called Art Abilities through Bryn Mawr Rehab in Malvern,
Pennsylvania. With my time and interest rejuvenated, I entered their
national juried art show for the disabled. I was awarded an honorable
mention for the painting of a horse entitled "Chestnut Mare," the
inspiration for which for which the equestrian therapy that I received at
Thorncroft stables. I continue to donate a piece of art to their silent
auction and have a great respect for the work they do to help both the
physically and mentally handicapped.
I continue to paint, draw and wood burn using standard mediums, such
as wood, canvas and paper as well as craft endeavours, such as
designs/ paintings on rocks, gourds or even walking canes. I love to
experiment with all types of mediums. "
