Scherenschnitte Artist
"I have been doing crafts of all kinds ever since I could remember, but never took
a serious interest in any one of them until I lost my husband of 43 years. To
occupy my time, I started working on Scherenschnitte (the art of scissor cutting)
and found it to be the one craft I really enjoyed. I was asked to teach this art form
to the 7th grade art classes when the art teacher saw some of my work I had
done for my daughter. Ever since then, I have been using my imagination and
creativity to cut and design pictures with different themes using very sharp
scissors. I try to pull from different subjects and different materials.
I belong to the Paper Cutter's Guild and have been fortunate to have sold a
number of my art works at the Biltmore Estates in Asheville, NC. I have also
taken several awards at the farm Show in Harrisburg.
I have been enjoying myself and keeping busy knowing that you are never too old
to learn. This is one craft that illustrates that theory to the fullest."
